We are running the first of our Beach Lifeguard and Surf Instructor training weeks in early June.
You will undergo a weeks training in preparation for your examination on the final day of the course.
Upon completion of the course all participants gain their internationally recognised Beach Lifeguard and Surf Instructor Qualifications. If you are already a level 1 instructor you can also obtain your level 2 with us in the same week.
The courses demand a certain amount of personal fitness and determination, but will definitely be one of the most rewarding weeks of your life setting you up for a new career in surf instructing or beach life-guarding anywhere in the world.
Qualification
These are professional qualifications, internationally recognized and valid for 2 -3 years.
Upon completion of the course you will be given your certificates and also assistance in finding work in your new career. Many students choose to gain these qualifications to allow them to work on the beach during their university holidays. It’s not all work however, as you will have plenty of time to surf, relax and enjoy the surf camp environment.
Cost
Each course costs €325 and includes accommodation.
If you want to do your surf instructors course and your beach lifeguard (you need both qualifications to legally teach surfing) then we offer the two at the discounted rate of €600.
Dates
Dates are yet to be confirmed but we expect to start the course on the first week of June. Please register your interest with joe@starsurfcamps.com or contact us here as spaces are limited to 12 people in order to ensure a high level of professionalism and teaching quality. Lessons are taught in English with German and Spanish translators.
Good morning,
I would like some information about the formation to be a lifeguard and surf instructor.
I would like to be a suf instructor but I just start surfing in Australia some a couple of days, so I am just a beginner in surfing and I woulk like know if this level is enough to get this formation or If I need get a good level in surfing with some surfing lessons .
Can you explain to me the formation and how long time is it?
The place and the cost for this one ?
Thanks.
Best regards.
Marine.
Hi Marine,
In order to teach surfing it is important to have a basic level of surfing ability. Part of the course is a surfing assessment which requires you to be able to demonstrate the basics of surfing correctly. This will be popping up and riding left and right. The combined surf instructor and lifeguard course is 1 week and costs €600, this includes all food, accommodation and course materials.
Please get in contact with me if you have any more questions joe@starsurfcamps.com
Will there be courses later in the summer in July?
If not, is there any other way to become a lifeguard or surfcoach during the summer after arriving in France in July?
Lastly, is a certain amount of French required? I.e. do you accept only English speakers.
Hi Peter, we will be running courses later in the year but I cannot confirm any dates yet. They are internationally recognized qualifications but taught in English and awarded by English governing bodies so no other language is a necessity. If you are looking for work this summer you are leaving it a little late to gain your qualifications if you wait until July, I would recommend getting on this course however we only have a few spaces left. Please get in contact with me if you have any more questions joe@starsurfcamps.com
Hi,my name is Giulia, i have the lifeguard Nacional Salvament certificate ,is the same or i need to take your certificate?
i show you the link of my SNS ( http://www.salvamento.it )
I practice surf, too .this year for all month of August i ‘m training in California and when i comeback i ‘ll ready for carry out the course.
Thanks
Hi Giulia, you need to contact the SNS and ask if it is internationally recognised. Would you like to join the september course?
Hi Peter, Our courses simply get you qualified, they do not garauntee a job with us. To work for us we only employ experienced, qualified and multi lingual coaches, other schools are not so fussy. Obviously all our coaches had to start somewhere, most start by working for surf schools in their home countries and building upon that experience over a number of years they eventually end up working for us. Good luck and I promise you it is a great and rewarding career!
Hi Sophia, are you looking to work as a lifeguard or a surf instructor? To work as a surf instructor it is a legal requirement to hold a lifesaving qualification. In france you can work as a surf instructor using your RLSS certificate however to work as a lifeguard you have to train with the French authorities as their lifeguarding service is part of their civil service unlike the UK where it is administered by a private NGO.
